Overview

  • This article provides information on how to configure SNMP on Sophos XG Firewall.

What to do

  • Go to System > Administration > Device Access and enable SNMP on LAN zone.
  • Configure XG firewall as a SNMP agent (configured in System > Administration > SNMP).
  • Agent Port: <SNMP service port on XG>
  • Manager Port: <SNMP service port on SNMP manager>
PortSophos
  • Configure SNMP Community on Sophos XG Firewall (configured in System > Administration > SNMP)
  • Name: <name of the SNMP Community>
  • IP Address: <IP address of SNMP manager>
Prtg
  • Run SNMP Manager and load XG MIB
  • Now you are able to communicate with XG Firewall in your SNMP Manager.

Note:

Sophos Utm Prtg Sensor

  • Sophos XG Firewall accepts SNMP messages from SNMP manager in the same community.
  • Protocol Version and Trap Support version should match those on SNMP manager.
  • Sophos XG Firewall supports SNMP Get messages, but it does not support SNMP Set messages.

You can configure XG Firewall as an SNMP agent.

Sophos Utm Prtg

  1. Go to Administration > SNMP.
    You can import or export an SNMP agent, community, or user configuration as a tar file from Backup and firmware > Import export.
  2. Select Enable SNMP agent to configure XG Firewall as an agent.
  3. Enter a name.
  4. Enter the physical location of XG Firewall to identify its location.
  5. Enter the contact details of the person managing XG Firewall.
  6. XG Firewall receives requests from SNMP managers and authorized hosts over the Agent port, using UDP port 161.
  7. XG Firewall sends traps over the Manager port, using UDP port 162.
    Tip To turn on SNMP traps, go to System services > Notification list.
  8. Click Apply.
