Tunnelblick helps you control OpenVPN® VPNs on macOS. It is Free Software that puts its users first. There are no ads, no affiliate marketers, no tracking — we don't even keep logs of your IP address or other information. We just supply open technology for fast, easy, private, and secure control of VPNs.

Tunnelblick comes as a ready-to-use application with all necessary binaries and drivers (including OpenVPN, easy-rsa, and tun/tap drivers). No additional installation is necessary — just add your OpenVPN configuration and encryption information.

To use Tunnelblick you need access to a VPN server: your computer is one end of the tunnel and the VPN server is the other end. For more information, see Getting VPN Service.

Use a VPN app that implements split tunneling. Several (not many) VPN services implement VPN. Install Tunnelblick, launch it, and it will ask for the configuration files provided by your OpenVPN server. These often have the.ovpn file extension and are required for connecting from any OpenVPN client. Your OpenVPN server provider should provide them to you. Tunnelblick provides its own menu bar icon for managing your OpenVPN connections. Tunnelblick already works on an M1 under Rosetta 2 (except for the system extensions, which may never work). To get it to run in native mode on an M1, two things need to be done: Get Tunnelblick and the third-party libraries it is static-linked to building on macOS 10.16 'Catalina' or 10.17/11.0 'Big Sur' using Xcode 12 or Xcode 13.
